PlayStation Emerging Filmmakers Program

Pitch video with Script by Quincy Bazen

A one-of-a-kind opportunity for students to bring their original ideas to life by pitching pilots to Sony.

01 — The Ask

PlayStation wanted to use our network of young filmmakers to tell original stories that wouldn't typically be green-lit by a major production studio. Thus, the PlayStation Emerging Filmmakers Program was born: a year-long initiative designed to find and produce shows using talent within the iU community. What started as a call for concepts soon evolved into a live pitch event in LA culminating with the production of five pilots in Atlanta over the course of 6 months.

02 — The Process

Once we activated our network of creatives, word spread fast and paid media soon turned earned with coverage of the program spread far and wide. On top of managing the project in-house, I was also on the selection committee for the final rounds of pilots providing story and script notes to the writers to help shape their projects into fully-formed, camera-ready productions.

04 — The Result

With an initial goal of 500 pilot submissions, we passed the 700 mark by the end of the program and through a series of pitch and production meetings, whittled them down to the 5 selected to produce at full scale in-house. When the finished products arrived, PlayStation saw record viewership on their own platform PS Vue. The pilots are now available to stream online.
